Our Program
GIRLS GOT GAME SUMMER HOCKEY CAMP is pleased to offer another exciting summer hockey camp, featuring Hockey Canada Coach Jim Fetter and his elite team, who bring a wealth of experience coaching women's hockey at the CIS, NCAA and Hockey Canada levels. Returning for the fourth year, Jim and his staff will share a variety of proven hockey strategies while introducing key individual skills development goals. This camp is designed for aspiring female hockey players between the ages of 7-16. Care and attention will be devoted equally to all, from our youngest to our most experienced athletes. Players will be grouped according to ability and age.
CAMP PHILOSOPHY:
Our goal is to provide each player and goalie with the highest caliber instruction available. We limit the size of each age group to guarantee a proper student/instructor ratio. Our priority is to ensure that all girls, regardless of ability, skate away from our camp with increased confidence in their skills and a greater understanding and passion for this wonderful sport.
ON-ICE TRAINING:
The ice time will be divided into two 90 minute or three 50 min daily ice sessions. Sessions will be devoted to power skating, where the emphasis is on: Skating Technique, (edge work, balance, stride and control), Individual Skill Development, and Puck Handling (passing and shooting, checking/angling and scoring). Offensive and defensive concepts such as puck possession/movement, cycling, breakouts, and zone entry will also be taught. Specialized goaltending instruction for enhanced skill development for goalies at all levels.
DRYLAND TRAINING:
Our Girls Got Game Instructional Staff has developed age appropriate program that consists of a variety of exercises and games. Each day players will work on exercises that help to develop their movement skills, speed, agility, balance, and coordination.
TEAM-BUILDING/OFF-ICE GAMES:
Our program includes fun games and activities to help campers get to know one another, and develop their skills as a team member. Our team building activities encourage individuals to build upon important interpersonal skills such as communication, negotiation, leadership, & motivation.
